At the top pillar of the temple, there lived a spider. As due to the daily praying and chanting

After one thousand years 1000 of practice , the spider had increase and gain its spirit powers.
One day, the Buddha came down from heaven and to this temple.
Seeing regular incense and many loyal believers, the Buddha is very happy.
Upon leaving, the Buddha suddenly rise his head and look at the top of the pillar.
When he saw the spider, he said,
"Little spider, you had stayed in this temple for 1000 years,
I believe the chanting had given you some buddha spirit.
Since I've met you, it means we are fated.
Tell me, what do you think is the most precious thing in the World?"
The spider is thrill when the Buddha notices its existence.
Happily with confidence she replies,
"The most precious things in the World are 'things you can't have' and 'things you had lost'."
(note : in chinese, 'things you can't have' is De(2) Bu(2) Dao(4)
'things you had lost' is Yi(3) Shi(1) Qu(4) .)
The Buddha nods his head, smile and he left.
It had been another 1000 years and the spider's spirits powers increase further.
The Buddha came to this temple again.
The spider still sitting there on top of the temple's pillar.
The Buddha asked,
"Spider, its been 2000 years. Let me ask you again,
what is the most precious thing in the World?"
The spider answered,
"Dear Buddha, the most precious things in the World are 'things you can't have' and 'things you had lost."
The Buddha replied,
"Spider, you think about this question carefully, I'll look for you again."
Again, it is another 1000 years past.
One day a strong wind blew and send a dew drop on the spider.
The spider saw and realise how beautiful the dew drop is and instant fall in love with it.
Everyday, the spider looks at the dew drop and admiring it.
She feels it is the happest moment of the 3000 years she had spent.
Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew again and blow the dew drop away.
Upon losing the dew drop, the spider became very moody and upset.
This time, when the Buddha came, the Buddha asked the same question again.
The spider, thinking about the lovely dew drop, sadly replies,
"Dear Buddha, the most precious things in the World are still 'things you can't have' and 'things you had lost."
The Buddha smiled and answered,
"ok! Spider, since you really think that way, I shall send you to the human World."
(note : human world refers to 'ren(2) jian(1).)
Therefore under the Buddha's arrangment, the spider was then borned in a wealthy family as
a beauiful baby girl named Zhu(1) er.
(note : Zhu(1) er = Spider )
Times flies and 16 years passed, Zhu er had grew up to be a beautiful young lady.
One day, the imperial top scholar, Lu(4) had arrived in Zhu er's town.
(note : Imperial top scholar is Zhuang(4) Yuan(2) and
Lu(4) = dew drop)
The Emperor is holding a banquet to celebrate Lu's success and invited a lot of beauties from the country
for this celebration. Among the beauties included, Zhu er and Emperor's princess Feng(1).

At the banquet, Lu and Zhu er had strike many conversation and Zhu er is very happy to be with the
one she loves. Although there are so many beauties around, Zhu er is not intimidate,
as she knows this is Buddha's arrangement for her happiness.
After the banquet, one fine day, Zhu er and Lu had coincidentally met at the temple.
During their happy conversations, Zhu er did not find Lu revealing any special liking to her.
Upon her curiosity, she asked,
"Don't you remember the spider that fall in love with you 16 years ago?"
Lu laughed and replied,
"Dear Zhu er, you are very pretty and lovable.
But I didn't know you are such a humourous and imaginative girl."
When Zhu er went back home, she feels terribly sad.
She thought,
"Since this was Buddha's arrangment, why didn't Buddha let him recognise and remember me?"
Days later, the Emperor had passed a verdict to marry Princess Feng with Lu and
pairing Prince Zi(1) Cao(3) with Zhu er.
(note : Zi(1) Cao(3) = Exlir grass - a kind of plant)
This came as a sudden shock for Zhu er and she was devasted.
She could not understand why Buddha had separate her from her loved one.
She was so devasted that she could not eat nor drink.
She became strengthless day by day and and her life is in danger.
Upon hearing this, Prince Zi Cao ran to Zhu er's sick bed and cried,
"I had met you at the banquet and fell in love with you at first sight.
Therefore I had begged the Emperor to marry you. If you should die,
I would not want to live too."
Finishing his sentence, he took out his sword and killed himself.
At this time, Buddha appeared in front of the dying Zhu er.
He said,
"Spider, had you ever thought, who brought you the dew drop (Lu)?
It is the Wind (Princess Feng).
It is the Wind (Princess Feng) who brought the dew drop (Lu) away too.
Dew drop belongs to the Wind, not you. The dew drop is just a simple passerby of your life.
As for Prince Zi Cao, he is the elixr grass outside the temple.
He had watched you and admired you for 3000 years.
But, you had never lower your vision and looked at him once.
Tell me now, what is the most precious thing in the World?"
Zhu er (Spider) replied faintly,
"Dear Buddha, I understand now, the most precious thing in this World
are NOT 'things you can't have' and 'things you had lost'.
It is treasure the happiness at this moment."
Have you learn to treasure your happiness at this moment?
